The United States's 2008 decision not to ratify the extension to the Kyoto Protocol proposed by the UN has been viewed as a necessity by the United States, but roused up world suspicion and confusion. Why not join a coalition to stop the deterioration of the environment by capping greenhouse gasses? The United States says this coalition won't work unless all countries are involved in this movement, specifically China. But in rejecting the ratification, isn't the United States fundamentally denying the very mission of the Kyoto Protocol--to save the future of the environment?
Hmmmm
Well, all things being equal, obviously I support anything that helps the environment---but, not knowing anything about this issue beyond what you've posted, I can't really form an opinion because I don't know what reasons the US stated for not renewing the agreement... I mean, how do I know this bill doesn't also say "oh, by the way, kill all the kittens"... I don't know about you, but I like kittens! ;)
So, in other words, what are the pros and cons?
